Competition results

Pro's Day turned out to be a real success, with members enjoying the PGA Tour treatment on the first tee with the TrackMan analysis. We also had a number of members who successfully beat Nick on the 10th hole so a huge well done to them (money has been credited to your Pro Shop accounts).

Well done to Tom Smith who had a great knock of nett 63 in fairly windy conditions. There were 22 twos worth £7.40 each and our two shootout winners this week were David Johnson and Dom Grimes, both receiving £50 each.

Ladies & Junior Coaching

We are delighted to be able to undertake some group coaching and we have some notable dates for the diary.

Ladies - We will be running some group coaching every Wednesday at 6:30pm from Wednesday, 5th August and each week will focus on a different aspect of the game. These sessions will be £10 per person and are open to members and non-members. Please register each week in the Pro Shop before the day.

Juniors - We are running a friendly 9 hole team competition next Friday, 24th July for those juniors with either a handicap or previous course experience. Please contact the Pro Shop to book your son/daughters place.

Junior Open Day - We are hosting an open day for all juniors (member and non-member) on Sunday, 16th August 11-12. This is open to ages 6-16 and to all abilities. It will be a fun and informal session to introduce children to golf. Again please contact the Pro Shop to register your interest.

Golf on Tour

Certain rounds make us mere mortals say “Wow!”.

Collin Morikawa had one of those rounds on Sunday. Justin Thomas really should have won the tournament - and when you sink a glorious putt from 50-plus feet for birdie in a playoff it’d be understandable to celebrate as you have - but, as I said, Morikawa had a “Wow!” round.

This was Morikawa's second PGA Tour victory. That might not sound too impressive as a standalone statement, but it's one more than the number of cuts he's missed so far in his youthful career. Just let that sink in for a minute.

It goes to show how consistent the top players are. So, rather than trying to hit the ball further, maybe we should all be striving for more consistency in our game? Share your thoughts with us using the button below.

Being a single-figure golfer, there's a good chance that at least one club in your bag has been fitted to suit your swing. We're big advocates of custom fitting when it comes to purchasing new clubs and would encourage you to go through the process again if you're considering an upgrade to your set.

Changes over time

Whilst many of you have been custom fitted before, your specs are likely to alter over time as your swing changes.

This is the best bit about the fitting experience - trying out the latest products from multiple brand until you find the one you prefer.

You ARE good enough

A recent survey highlighted that nearly a quarter of golfers who haven’t been custom fitted before believe that they are not good enough to go through the fitting process. We're incredibly passionate about finding the best clubs for your game - no matter your golfing ability or experience - and an enjoyable fitting experience is the most effective way to do this and help you improve as a golfer.

Consistency is key

It’s nice to be able to hit the ball further and more accurately, and a custom fitting will help with that, but the main thing is to be more consistent so that your bad shots are few and far between.

Testing different clubs

This is the most enjoyable part for any golfer - trying out the latest equipment from different brands. It's not just about what performs best, but also about what you prefer in both looks and feel.

Finding you the right club

Once we have a club that you particularly like, we'll look at the finer details with you so it's perfectly set-up for your game. We appreciate it's a big purchase, so we want to ensure you walk away happy.

Making life easier off the tee

The average golfer will use their driver between 10-13 times per round. That means between 50-75% of holes are relying on that one club for a good start. But how do you ensure you get that good start?

Finding the right driver

First things first, if you want to find the fairway with more regularity then you need to feel comfortable with your driver. This game is made so much easier when we're confident in playing the shot at hand.
